Surfers Paradise Gorillas are a group of seasoned rugby enthusiasts who, despite the wear and tear on their bodies, still harbour an unwavering passion for the game.
The Gorillas, aged between 35 and 70+ years, play local games most months and play under the Golden Oldies and Veterans rules. Our mission centres on fun and camaraderie, providing a social haven for rugby fanatics while relishing the simple joys of sharing a few drinks and hearty laughs.
Join us at training every Thursday night for a friendly game of touch footy. It’s an open invitation to be part of this vibrant community who know that age is just a number when it comes to enjoying the sport we love.

Uniforms, Training & Game Day info…
All Gorillas receive a FREE club training shirt as part of their club membership. A numbered match jersey will be supplied to each player for game days and returned to Managers at the end of each game – Club shorts & Club socks are available to purchase from the club. All players need to provide their own mouth guard, boots and optional headgear/body armour.
Thursday 6-7pm
Surfers Paradise Rugby Union Club is used six nights a week during the rugby season by Junior, Senior and Rugby 7s teams. Individual team coaches determine how many sessions and when practices will be. Come along any Thursday night from 6-7pm when the Gorillas have a game of touch followed by a beer.
