Sommelier Quentin Ferguson Bio:
After starting a career in hospitality at the age of 21, Quentin was quickly captivated by the world of wines. After working for leading restaurants in Melbourne, he travelled to London to work, study and travel through France.
In France he explored some of the great classic wine regions of the world. Returning to Australia Quentin landed a role as a Sommelier at Vue de monde, working with some of the worlds great professionals of wine. He continued to work for major restaurants and wine lists including Ezard, Grossi Florentino in Melbourne and Levantine Hill in the Yarra Valley. Recent times have seen Quentin relocate to the Gold Coast where he now runs the wine program and retail outlets for Morton Hospitality. Quentin currently holds Level 3 with Wine and Spirit Education Trust and Certified Sommelier with Court of Master Sommeliers.
Selected Wines:
Voyager Estate Sparkling Chenin Blanc, Margaret River, WA
Starting as an experimental wine for Voyager, this has quickly become a staple of their yearly production. Made with the delicious and often overlooked Chinin Blanc with stunning aromatics and racy freshness. Its a must try!
Dal Zotto Pinot Bianco, King Valley, Vic
One of the great original farming families of King Valley, Dal Zotto produces excellent cool climate wines with a European feel. Pinot Bianco is the more savoury cousin of Pinot Gris but delivers a fresh, aromatic style of medium white wine with no oak. Perfect coming into these warmer months.
Teusner G Grenache, Barossa Valley, SA
Grenache is fast becoming synonymous with South Australia. We’re currently making the world’s best Grenache wines with hallmarks of perfume, structure and length within a medium bodied frame. See what all the hype is about!
2014 Yalumba Signature Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz, Barossa SA
This one of Australia’s truly great wines and Yalumba has been generous in opening their cellar for us to look at the 2014 vintage. The top barrels of Barossa Valley and Eden Valley fruit is selected for this wine which then goes onto mature in French and Hungarian oak. It’s a fine wine showing both power and finesse, fruit and spice, complexity and length. These wines age impeccably and it’s a pleasure to open up this wine, 10 years on from vintage.
Wine available by the glass:
After the tasting guests are able to purchase individual glasses of their preferred wines from $12 per glass.
